History of BHS

BLOUBERGRANT HIGH SCHOOL OPENED ITS DOORS OF LEARNING FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME ON MONDAY, 12 JANUARY 2006. THE SITUATION WAS QUITE CHAOTIC, AS THE BUILDING CONTRACTOR, AND A NUMBER OF SUB-CONTRACTORS WERE STILL BUSY RUSHING TO PUT THE FINAL FINISHING TOUCHES TO THE BUILDING.

THE SCHOOL WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED ON WEDNESDAY, 14 JANUARY 2006, BY THE WESTERN CAPE MINISTER OF EDUCATION, MR. CAMERON DUGMORE, AND THE PREMIER OF THE WESTERN CAPE, MR. EBRAHIM RASOOL, TOGETHER WITH A VARIETY OF OTHER DIGNATORIES FROM THE EDUCATION AND POLITICAL FRATERNITY.

BOTH MR. CAMERON DUGMORE AND MR. EBRAHIM RASOOL WAS EXTREMELY ENTHUSIASTIC AFTER VISITING THE LEARNERS IN THE CLASSES, WITH PREMIER RASOOL COMMENTING THAT BLOUBERGRANT HIGH WAS TRULY A SCHOOL OF THE NEW SOUTH AFRICA. A SCHOOL WITHOUT ANY BAGGAGE, BEING NEITHER A TOWNSHIP SCHOOL NOR AN EX-MODEL C SCHOOL. THE DIVERSITY OF THE LEARNERS ON THAT VERY FIRST DAY WAS ALREADY INDICATIVE OF POSITIVE THINGS TO COME.
